I personally started out as a painter and decorator when I began decorating houses for Crawley Borough Council. This was at a time when Crawley council had lots of money to spend, and everytime somebody moved out of a council property they would send in the builders and give it a complete overhaul. This meant stripping the wallpaper in every room, skimming the walls, artexing ceilings, knocking out larders, ripping out kitchens, the full works. I did this constantly going from house to house or flat to flat for around seven years. Hence, in the time i spent doing this i began to get very good at my job, and formulated a very efficient way of working.
I started to build a small team around me and we could completely strip and redecorate an entire three bedroom house in five days flat. This being to a very high standard as the surveyor (naming no names) was a stickler for quality. He knew the council were paying an awful lot of money to get the work done, and he wanted to get every last pennies worth. You can't blame him really.
Inevitably though the council came to realize that if they offered the new tenant that was moving into a property a voucher of between £100 to £500 pounds, they would be more than happy to overlook any work that needed doing to the property, on the provisory that they would use the money to decorate it themselves. And so the days of paying decorators to decorate empty council properties were over.
A New Beginning
After this though, here we were, a highly skilled unit that could decorate like a well oiled machine. We were fast. And still are. We went on to decorate the entire MFI store in Brighton. This comprised of taping and joining well over a thousand square metres of boarding, decorating over 50 bedroom displays, 30 bathroom displays, 30 kitchen displays aswell as the entire office complex. There were three of us and we did all this in a little over five weeks, including the snagging.
Since then we have gone on to do numerous projects from office blocks, to churches, to commercial properties, to property development, to domestic houses.. you name it and we have just about done it, and because we are so efficient in the way we work, our customers always get a great deal from us. We usually work on a price and the amount of work we can get done in a day means that our prices are extremely competitive. And our standard speaks for itself. I can provide many references to anyone that wishes more evidence on this fact.
Health and Safety
We hold a full comprehensive public liability insurance cover, which i would be glad to provide a copy of and I even have a health and safety advisor that has compiled a full health and safety policy for Decorators Today. This conforms to all the new health and safety regulations, and i can provide a copy along with COSH and method statements to anyone interested in seeing them.

These include decorators, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, floor layers, plasterers, property developers among others, and they are always available to help out, and we are happy to recommend them.

I'm going to end this page now as it seems like it could go on for ever, but i'll just end on this note. I make sure that it is our policy at Decorators Today to keep our customers extremely happy. Decorators Today are an up and coming decorating company servicing most areas of the Southeast. We are based in Crawley, West Sussex, and work in numerous locations across London, Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Although only recently established as "Decorators Today" we have been painting and decorating as a team for over fifteen years and are fully skilled in all aspects of the decorating trade. We work as a small unit of 2 - 4 decorators, but have a growing network of quality painter and decorators on hand should we need to take on bigger jobs or contracts.
